Lodge Group Bike Ride Schedule - March 26 & 27

We are developing a reorder of the Beaches Lodge Ride bike kits. Deadline is April 30th. Follow this Link for more information about the BLR kits. Also we are developing a new kit for the Fall 2011 in time for Six Gap bike ride in mid September. More to follow on the Fall Kit.

We are back to warmer spring road bike temperatures again. This weekend ride time temperatures forecasted at the 8:00 AM ride start time will be in the Mid 50"s, low MPH South West wind on Saturday and low 60's on Sunday and low MPH South West wind for Sunday. Sunny for both Saturday and Sunday.

Please Remember with the large Saturday morning bike ride group it is a warm up ride speed around 20 MPH "Neutral Zone" to the Palm Valley bridge.

Saturday – 8:00 AM @ the Lodge – 35 to 40 miles
Group AA = 25+ MPH
Group A = 19 – 25 MPH
Remember it is a warm up ride to the Palm Valley Bridge.

We will regroup when necessary for those loosing contact with the group.
We have been trying to keep everyone together back to the Palm Valley Bridge and over the PV Bridge back home. So that everyone finishes the ride together.

Do Not Block PVB Traffic On Sat. Morning Rollout!!!

One of our regular members sent me this email about blocking traffic on Ponte Vedra Boulevard:

"For the safety of everyone, I think some regular reminders about our group rides going single file on Micklers (PVB) needs to be addressed.

The groups are getting larger, and when people ride abreast taking up the whole road, it only fosters road rage from motorists.

Surprising how many times the guys at the back of the group will yell "car back" but some cyclists appear to be deaf or indifferent.

Our cooperation in sharing the road will save lives, and prevent the anti-cyclist thoughts that car drivers have."

The St.Johns County Police have really been cracking down on bikers on PVB. We need to be more mindful of car traffic especially on this stretch of road. Please do your part and tell certain bikers to move away from the center line, and allow cars to pass our group!

BLR Kit Reorder - Deadline April 30th

Several people have expressed interest in a BLR kit reorder. We need at least 5 kits to meet the manufacturer's minimum. If we get enough requests, we will initiate the reorder at the end of April. The price for the kits will be similar to the first order (about $125 for bibs and jersey). Please email Walter at cyclecamp@comcast.net to reserve your kit. You can pay Walter before we place the final order.

BTW. We are still going to design a second version of the BLR kit and have it delivered in time for 6 Gap at the end of September. Stay tuned for more info on the design.

Tuesday/Thursday Evening Road Bike Ride - Route Change - Starting Tuesday March 22

The Tuesday/Thursday Evening bike ride has decided to return to the original warm up route. This ride starts at the County Line on Ponte Vedra Blvd and Duval Drive.

Beginning this Tuesday March 22 the warm up route will go through the neighbor hood (the cool down route backwards) right on to San Juan from PVB, cross Salano Road, south on Le Master to left onto Corona Road, back right onto PVB.

This is a race place 25+ MPH ride.

A Second slower group has also formed on Tuesday/Thursday night.

This group ride pace's is 20 - 25 MPH.

The Second Group starts out with the faster group.

At A1A and PVB/Mickler's Road this group goes South on A1A until the First or Second Beach Access parking lot (depending on the remaining daylight) and returns backs. This group may regroup at Mickler's Beach Access depending on the number of riders. If you loose contact with the front group going down PVB go South on A1A until you meet the Second group returning North on A1A.

Tuesday/Thursday Evening Road Bike Ride Starts Tuesday, March 15

With the Daylight Saving Time change last Sunday, there is now enough daylight to start the Tuesday/Thursday Evening road bike rides.

Tuesday/Thursday Evening = 30 miles

Meets: County Line @ Ponte Vedra Blvd and Duval Drive.

Time: 6:30 PM

Speed: This is a fast pace 25+MPH ride...Racing speed and conditions.

Due to sunset time for the next few weeks the ride distance will be shorter.

Sunset: 7:34PM

Twilight Ends: 7:57PM
