Memorial Day Weekend - May 26, 27 & 28 - Sunday Ride to Amelia is CANCEL!!!


Due to the Tropical Strom off our coast and its unpredictable weather forecast this Memorial Day Weekend, the Sunday Ride to Amelia Island is CANCEL!! There will be the standard 8:00 AM Sunday Ride from the Lodge weather permitting.

There will be a Monday Memorial Day Group Bike Ride at 8:00 AM leaving from the Lodge, Weather permitting.

The 2012 BFSC Bike Kits have arrived. You can stop by Open Road Beach store at 10th Ave South to pick up your kit is you have paid.

The Bike Kit Party is Saturday, June 9th at Bert Bost home. You can pick your kit up then also. Stay tune for more info on the Bike Kit Party.

The Beaches Weekend weather forecast calls for on Saturday’s start time 75F, 15mph NNE wind, and Partly Sunny. On Sunday the forecast at the start time is Cloudy/Rain at 75F, 17 mph N wind with 60% chance of rain. Monday’s forecast at the start time is Cloudy/Rain at 75F, 17 mph N wind with 60% chance of rain.

There are Two Groups on Saturday

The BFSC splits into 2 groups base on Ride Pace either at the PV Bridge
Or at the Traffic Light at Crosswater Parkway & Old 210
Group 1 = Ride Pace 25+ MPH with max speed 30+
Group 2 = Ride Pace 19 – 25 MPH

Group 1 will make Right at Crosswater Parkway. 
Group 2 will make a Left at Crosswater Parkway
  
Sunday - 8:00 AM Road Ride Leaving from the Lodge – 50 - 60 miles
Group Ride Ride Pace = 19 – 22 MPH.
Remember this is a GROUP ride.
We will regroup when necessary for those loosing contact with the group.
We have been trying to keep everyone together back to the Palm Valley Bridge,
 so that everyone finishes the ride together.

ALL RIDE MILLAGE IS BASED on from the starting location: The Lodge and back to The Lodge

The 2012 Beaches First Street Cycling Kits have arrived.
Go by Open Road Beach store and pick up your kit if you have paid Walter Campbell.
Open Road is 10th Ave South, Monday though Saturday.
Kit Party is Saturday, June 9th at Bert Bost home.

The New Kits are Finally Here!!


If you would like to pick up your new BFSC kit, you can stop by the Open Road Beaches Location, and Ralph or Tony will give you your kit. These kits are only available to those who have already paid Walter. (Open Road Bicycles, 1017 South Third Street, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 USA (904) 853-6014). All kits that are not picked up, will be available at the kit party on June 9th at Bert Bost's house in South Jax Beach. David Dean will be providing the alcohol. BFSC Ride Schedule = May 19 & 20 - Alternate Sat Start Route Due to BFAS Triathlon


The BFSC Saturday Ride Route WILL NOT ride South on PVB. We ride out Solana/Roscoe Road to PV Bridge.

Saturday, May 19 is the first BFAS first Sprint Triathlon at Mickler’s Beach.
The BFSC Saturday ride route will be diverted, so that, we do not interfere with the Triathlon. See Saturday ride route below.

The Giro de Italy has started. It’s a shame Comcast does not carry Universal TV any more, but I understand it is on satellite network Dish or Direct TV.  You can follow the Giro on the Internet live feed on: http://cyclingfans.com/live_race_coverage

Saturday – 8:00 AM @ the Lodge – 40 miles = Alternate route to the Palm Valley Bridge due to the Beaches Fine Arts Triathlon - See Below:

The Beaches Fine Art first triathlon is this Saturday, May 19 starting at 7:00 AM. The BFSC bike ride route will leave the Lodge @ 8:00 AM and ride north on PVB to west/left onto Solana Road crossing over A1A and ride south on Roscoe Blvd to the Palm Valley Bridge and then begin the traditional Saturday bike ride route. In the past, by the time we arrive at the bridge the bike portion of the Triathlon has been completed. We will return by Mickler's Road to PVB. Watch for heavy traffic around the Triathlon.

BFSC Ride Schedule - May 12 & 13


It is TPC weekend down in Ponte Vedra Beach. Watch out for the increased traffic. In the past our Saturday and Sunday rides follow routes or have been completed with out much impact from the traffic.

70 miles round trip from the Lodge, Approximately 50 miles from Rag Time. 
We will ride North on PVB, Duval Dr., First Street, and Plaza to A1A to the Ferry. 
We will pass Rag Time in Atlantic Beach around 8:00 AM.
Catch the 8:30 Ferry - $1.00 Each Way. 
We will catch the returning 10:45 AM Ferry. 
This is a group ride; we try to keep the group together.
