BFSC Tuesday/Thursday Night Rides Start Tuesday, March 13 @ 6:30 PM

With Day Light Saving Time beginning this past Sunday, the Tuesday/Thursday Night Bike Rides will start Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 PM. The Ride starts at the "County Line" that is the corner of Ponte Vedra Blvd and Duval Drive.

You should have a white front light and red tail light for your ride home. This is a state law for bicycles riding after Sunset.

The Ride pace is similar to the fast Group 1 ride on the BFSC Saturday Ride.
Ride Pace 25+ MPH

Sunset is 7:33 PM with Twilight ending at 7:57 PM

Until it stays lighter longer, the route will be the short Nocatee route. Spoke 1 then to the roundabout. If the group judges that there is enough light we may complete spoke 3. But most likely for the next couple of weeks we will turn around at the roundabout to return back to PVB.

BFSC Ride Schedule March 10 & 11 - Day Light Saving Time Starts Sunday, Turn Your Clocks Ahead!

Turn you clock ahead one hour Saturday night, Day Light Saving Time changes this weekend, Sunday March 11.

There was a lot of discussion last weekend on the Beaches First Street Cycling Facebook page about dropped riders trying to merge back into Group 1. Please make a path for the faster riders to come though either just to the left, staying in our lane or to the far right. YOU MUST get back up to the peloton’s speed before you merger back in. Also the Saturday BFSC ride is a Road ride NOT a Time trial or Triathlon. You should be riding a road bike not a TT bike. Please if you must ride a TT bike STAY OFF the AERO BARS!!! TT bike are very dangerous in a group ride, you have no control over steering or braking. There appeared to be a lot more than normal amount of TT bike on last Saturday’s ride.

With the increasing numbers of riders coming back out to ride on Saturday, we will start back up this Saturday the Group 2, Group 2 will turn LEFT at Crosswater Parkway after coming off of Old 210 after the bridge.

The BFSC Sunday Road Bike returns to its regular 8:00 AM start time. The first Sunday road ride will be the 40-mile loop at an easy calm pace. This will allow the River Runners a little recovery and all of you all that are just starting to get back into riding shape, be able to hang on.

Good Luck and Run Fast to the BFSC riders running the 15K River Run Saturday, March 10.

The 2012 Beaches First Street Cycling bike kits are ready to order now. Get your order into bfscycling@gmail.com  Bike Kit information is on the blog.

The Bike Kit Fit/Sizing Party is March 24 @ 4:00 to 7:00 at Dave & Debbie Gottschalk Marsh Landing home. Bring your checkbook and an appetizer. Beer, wine & drinks will be provided.

Open Road Beaches Store Grand Opening is Friday, March 16. Grand Opening party is at 7:00 PM.

Big Banana MS Fundraiser Awareness Party is Monday, March 12 at 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Bogey Grill in Ponte Vedra Beach. Raffles, door prizes and the bike riding movie “The Ride -- Phil Keoghan's 3,500-mile journey on bike riding across the US.

Also a Louis Garneau Performance Pro-Light Vest is $65. Those prices are good for the first 100 jerseys, first 100 bibs/shorts, and first 50 vests. After that you can add $15 per item. Please thank all our sponsors, when you see them out on the road. Their sponsorship has made it possible for this year’s low kit prices.

You can make your checks out to Beaches First Street Cycling or pay cash at the kit fit party. This year, payment is due in full prior to our order deadline of March, 26th. No exceptions!

2012 Beaches First Street Cycling Kit

We are starting to work on the new kits for 2012, and as part of that, we are looking for new sponsors. If you, or someone that you know, would like to be a kit sponsor this year, please contact Walter Campbell: cyclecamp@comcast.net.

A large logo on the kit costs $500 and that price includes one free kit. A small logo costs $300 and that price includes ½ off one kit. David Dean has arranged our main sponsor this year: Ty Ku Spirits. Thank you David Dean and Ty Ku for sponsoring us this year. Ty Ku has an awesome website, check it out! Also Chris Cusimano's company: Mass Media Outdoor Advertising Corp. is again one of our large sponsors. We hope that, if you sponsored us last year, you will do so again this year. All proceeds go towards: a) reducing the kit costs for our members, b) covering production costs / shipping, c) paying for beer / wine at our kit-fit parties. The deadline for sponsorship is the end of March, please sign up for sponsorship soon!!

Dave Gottschalk has volunteered to host the first kit-fit party at his new home! Stay tuned for a kit-fit party date to be announced! Everyone was very pleased with last year’s kit, so we decided to stay with Louis Garneau for another year. Also, members expressed an interest in Team socks, arm warmers and vests. We are going to look into these items this year. One change that we are going to institute this year, is that we will not place any order until we have payment for that order.

Also, several of the women are handling the details of the women’s order this year. If you would like to be involved in this process, please contact Rebekah Gleason at rgleason@fcsl.edu.

Again, please contact us soon, if you would like to be included on this year’s BFSC kit.
