BFSC Asking for Support for Hit & Run Injured Cyclist Lorin Leuthold
About 2 weeks ago, a friend of Judd Williams, Lorin Leuthold, riding alone late afternoon/early evening on Phillips Hwy. was struck by a hit and run driver. Lorin was thrown about 20 feet into a ditch full of water. His head was the only thing above the water and he slipped in and out of consciousness until his family found him quite a few hours later. They almost didn't find him.....it was dark, his bike was so mangled that it did not look like a bike, plus he was in a ditch making it even harder to see him.
We are asking for donations to help the family. I think Lorin's children have seen him once since the accident. His wife Laura, is publishing a bloghttp://m.caringbridge.org/visit/lorinleuthold
for anyone that might like to track his progress. He has been taken off the ventilator, his pelvis has been repaired, and I believe an infection is somewhat under control. I think there is some concern regarding his kidneys.
Anyone that would like to donate, please look for either Kathy Horton or Rebekah Hope or Robert Buck on both Thursday's rides (BFSC 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM ride and 6:30 PM BFSC County Line ride) and also BFSC Saturday's Ride.
If Lorin is like the rest of us, I'm sure he'll want to get back on the bike as soon as he is able. From what Judd has said, Lorin's bike is not repairable. If anyone has a bike they would like to sell cheap or even donate, please see Judd.
Thanks to everyone who has already responded and offered donations. I know it will mean a lot to this family.
